Ada Bojana

The triangular river island of Ada Bojana is located in the south of Montenegro, close to the border with Albania, about 15 km from Ulcinj. It is washed on two sides by the Bojana River and on the third side by the Adriatic Sea; its size is about two and a half by three kilometers. Access is via a bridge.

The beautiful emerald green river is home to numerous private guest houses and several excellent fish restaurants that are open all year round, most of which are built on stilts in the water. All year round, local fishermen are out and about in their small boats to provide fresh river and sea fish every day.

The river water comes from Lake Scutari and from the Albanian Alps. It is clean and pleasantly cool even in summer. As it flows into the Adriatic Sea, the sea water is not as salty.
The long sandy beach on the sea side is largely unspoiled. It is home to the only hotel open only in summer, which is popular with naturists. Ideal for nature lovers, anglers, hikers, those seeking peace and quiet and beach walkers, you can escape the stress of everyday life and unwind here from mid-September to the end of June.

It gets livelier in summer:

On the long road to Ada Bojana and on the river itself, supermarkets, greengrocers, cafes, more restaurants, boat rentals, etc. open. Sun-seeking tourists and day visitors arrive by car and boat, music from the beach bars and from the houses by the river fills the air. Kitesurfing, boating, water cabs, horseback riding, stand-up paddling, canoeing, water skiing, paragliding, etc. are now in high season. This time of year is for summer, sun and beach lovers who also like it a little more lively. The downsides the hustle and bustle, the noise, crowded streets, short power cuts from time to time and, unfortunately, the garbage. ☹
